Q & A With Founder Deanna
Hello friends! You know how much we appreciate and love all of our awesome customers and supporters who have been there since day one. But how much do you really know about creator and founder Deanna Saracino?
That’s what I thought, not that much.
Well fear not! I sat down with Deanna and asked her some questions about the company and what it means to be a female entrepreneur:
What inspired you to start La Clé?
La Clé started after a major low point in my life. I had just walked away from a start-up I created and realized I had surrounded myself with people who were not trustworthy and just sucked all the good out of me. I was at a point where I knew if I didn’t make a change and keep my brain moving and thinking creatively I was going to get into a bad spot mentally. I decided to put my energy into something I had always wanted to do, which was starting my own do good brand. I wanted to make things that inspired people, helped people and put good energy into the world. The journey was slow and steady and La Clé slowly shaped itself organically.
What does the motto Look Good, Feel Good, Do Good, personally mean to you?
It’s all about the energy you put out. Everything always connects and I love Abraham Maslow’s work on positive psychology. You have to take care of yourself first before you can do anything else. If you fail to do that you can never take the next step up the pyramid. If you look good, you will in turn feel good and once you are feeling good, you will be more inclined to give back and do good. This is a non stop cycle of goodness and if you can focus on these 3 things you are on your way to finding the key to living a positive and fulfilling life.
What’s one secret talent or unique trait that people might not know about you?
I am quite possibly the fastest eater alive.
What are some of the biggest challenges about being a small business owner/entrepreneur?
I think when you are building something on your own it can get lonely. You go through ups and downs with motivation and energy. There is so much work with building a business and success and not guaranteed and it doesn’t happen overnight. You have to be willing to keep going even when you don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Who would you like to see the most alive or dead (celebrity, fictional person, athlete, etc.) wearing La Clé products?
I’d love to see the people who directly inspired and motivated me to build La Clé wear our stuff! The short list of these people are:
What advice do you have for other women wanting to start their own business?
DO IT! Don’t wait for the perfect time, just start and chip away at it everyday. Put your time into building something you are passionate about even if it’s on the side of your main job. Figure out what you love and do it everyday.
What big things do we have to look forward to for La Clé in 2017?
The Unlocked Project is going to be SUPER inspiring this year! Keep an eye out for our new honorees! This years theme is perseverance. We hope that 2017 is going to bring lots of new eyes to our action based products and we can really focus on continuing to do as much good as we can and bringing awareness to so many great causes!
