Tips to Keep your New Years Resolutions!

How are your New Year's Resolutions going?! What did you put as your top priority for yourself this year?? Well, if you are like 97.2% of people (pretty sure that’s the stat, right?! ;)) you have most likely gotten overwhelmed with your “New You” schedule and are no longer looking forward to the changes you were excited about a month ago.  How do we get back on track?! Read below for a few tips to follow through with your resolution(s) and see actual change!

START SMALL

Too often when the new year comes along we are SO excited to have a clean slate that we opt to change EVERYTHING about our current schedule/life.  The problem with that?? IT’S TOO MUCH! Start by changing small things in your everyday routine and you will build confidence over time when you follow through with the small change.  For example, if you want to get healthier, start by drinking more water. That’s it. Just schedule in and figure out how you are going to drink more water in your daily routine. Once that becomes second nature then you can add in more changes like working out one day a week, then two, three..so on and so on.

FIND AN ACCOUNTABILITY BUDDY

Your resolution should be something that YOU want to do and no one else.  You have to believe and truly want change to make it happen but it does help to have someone to check in with to keep you accountable.  Some people team up with their best friend or significant other but you could also seek out a coach or trainer. Whoever it is, make sure they are also as invested in your success!

MAKE IT VISUAL

Make your resolution visible in your day to day life.  The best example is putting a post-it on your mirror that you see every morning when you wake up and every night when you go to bed.  Seeing your goal daily keeps you on track and visually reminds you that YOU CAN DO IT! So, start placing post-its, quotes and photos everywhere and see your goals come to life!
